PURPOSE AND MISSION
PURPOSE
Christian Education Ministry supported by the Council of Christian Education is charged to establish and administer a religious education program for the church under the direction of the Pastor and Director of Christian Education. The religious education program covers infants, children, youth, young adults, adults, and senior adults.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Mission of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church Christian Education Ministry is to carry out the vision and mission of the Pastor and the church. That is, “To provide spiritual and practical teaching, preaching, and disciple training for the perfecting of the members of NHMBC so they can do the work of the ministry.”

New Hope Missionary Baptist Church provides numerous training and educational classes to promote spiritual growth and to equip the saints for service in the body of Christ. Members are encouraged to take advantage of these training opportunities. The Bible Institute is one of several training organizations at New Hope. The Bible Institutes will take place as follows:
We are back to having onsite courses at the church as well as online via "ZOOM" teleconferencing. However, due to the recent increase in COVID variant cases in the Detroit and surrounding area, the church is reccommending wearing a mask on entering the building however it is not required.

#8066 Christianity and Contemporary Issues
Challenge the students to identify and confront contemporary issues. Students will examine issues that affect the church, home, and community. Students will think through practical solutions and approaches to immediate and emerging social and ecclesiological concerns.

#6021 Spiritual Formation
This course will enable people to mature in their Christian walk. Focus on a creative and dynamic approach to nurturing people from children to mature adults—to become better disciples of Jesus Christ. Students will deliberate on what it means to be Christian.

PLEASE NOTE: Course selection is subject to change based on the needs of individuals who elect to take these courses toward completion of the 24-Course Certificate of Progress Program (COPP) Certification. These courses are clustered in four phases of six courses each.
You may register for one course in each of the Institutes identified above. Complete a separate Registration Form for each Course that you wish to take.
Courses may be taken in any order within a Phase. However, it is preferred that you complete one Phase before taking courses in subsequent Phases. For more information about the Certificate of Progress Program (COPP), contact Dean Wilson.

Keep a copy for your records, and submit a copy to the Christian Education Ministry or the New Hope Administrative Office along with the applicable Registration Fee. The National Baptist Congress of Education offers courses designed to promote Bible knowledge and spiritual maturity among believers. These courses are offered at several different levels in Christian Leadership Schools.
National Baptist Congress of Christian Education
[Third week in June each year at various locations] Official Delegates are assigned by the Pastor to attend this Conference.

[First week in December each year in Nashville, Tennessee] Official Delegates are assigned by the Pastor to attend this Conference.
Wolverine Baptist Congress of Christian Education
[First week in June each year in Saginaw, Michigan] Official Delegates are assigned by the Pastor to attend this Conference.
Regional Congress of Christian Education
[First week in May each year at various locations] Official Delegates are assigned by the Pastor to attend this Conference.
Local Church Bible Institutes
[Various dates, times, and locations] All New Hope members may attend these schools at their own expense.
CERTIFICATE OF PROGRESS PROGRAM (COPP) INFORMATION
Metropolitan District Congress of Christian Education (M.E.D.C.C.E.)
[Second Saturday each month from the third Saturday in September and the second Saturday each month from October to March]. For more information about the COPP training and to register for a course at M.E.D.C.C.E., click on the link above. All New Hope members may take courses in M.E.D.C.C.E. at no charge.
If you have the desire to increase your Bible knowledge and enhance your spiritual growth at the same time, then the “Certificate of Progress Program” or COPP may be for you. COPP is a 24-Course certification program administered in four phases of six classes each. These courses are offered under the auspices of the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. Congress of Christian Education. These courses are taught at the National, State, Regional, District, and local church levels. Depending on which level and location, there may be a registration fee for taking classes--with the exception of M.E.D.C.C.E. New Hope is a member of M.E.D.C.C.E.; therefore, most courses are no charge to our church members. Though there is no charge for taking individual courses, if a member wishes to seek certification in the COPP, there are several fees associated with it:

In addition to any required (CLS) registration fee, COPP students are required to:
- Complete a Form 12 – COPP Admissions form
- Pay a COPP Admissions Fee of $15.00
- Subscribe to the Informer Christian Education Magazine
- One Year Subscription ($30)
- Two Year Subscription ($49)
- Three Year Subscription ($74)
- Five Year Subscription ($122)
- Phase completion fees upon completion of each of the four phases (Phases 1-3, $60; Phase 4, ($70).
- COPP courses may also be taken as individual spiritual enrichment courses without the above certification program fees. If a student later wishes to receive certification, they will be required to pay all of the necessary registration and Phase completion fees.
